THE STORY OF US:
We met through mutual music friends last spring via Facebook. We both remember the night like it was yesterday. Our conversations were something worthy of a Meg Ryan film.
We hit it off (through emails and texts), but he lived in Minneapolis (MN) and I lived in Jackson (MS) and we were only really connected by the Mississippi River. After ten days of getting to know each other, David knew that he had to meet this southern girl to see if there was anything between us. He flew down in April, and we met at one of my favorite coffee shops in Jackson called Cups Coffee.
Unfortunately, after spending some time together we began to see that there wasn't any kind of spark between us. And I'm pretty sure that we both felt a little disappointed with the outcome of his visit. So, after David traveled back to Minnesota and we started planning my visit to the Twin Citiesjust to try this out one more time.
I visited Minneapolis in the beginning of the summer and fell in love with every aspect of the city; the people, the food, old houses and buildings, but again there was no kind of spark between the two of us! We called this strike two and pretty much gave up hope that anything would ever come of this possible love story. I flew back to Mississippi and our communication started to dwindle.
I loved everything else so much that I decided I need to move to Minneapolis. I missed some of the people I met on my trip and I felt that there was no other option than packing up my car and heading north. I moved to Minnesota at the end of August, began making some friends, started graduate school, and had no intention of ever dating David Johnson.
But one day, in an effort to be friends, we had some coffee and everything changed. It's like our eyes were opened and our hearts were changed and we finally saw each other for who they really were. We had a miracle.
Now here we area little over a year after meeting, five months into a relationship, and 29 years in the making we're getting married!! On June 18!! It is going to be such a wonderful day...
Because our community and our church are both so important to us, we are getting married at the school we do church in: Sheridan School in Northeast Minneapolis. Our desire is for our families, friends, and church community to come together on June 18, 2011, and celebrate this important day with us! We hope that you will join us for the wedding ceremony at 2:00 in the afternoon, then stay for a fun outdoor reception directly following.
**In the days and weeks to come, we'll post more about wedding details, so keep checking this page for updates! also, the auditorium in the school tends to get a little warm in the summer, so dress accordingly!
